Mary Hornbuckle

Mary Ollis Hornbuckle, age 74, of Conover, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born November 29, 1938, in Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo Russell and Mae Owenby Russell. She retired from Camelot Nursing Home where she was a registered nurse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Calvin Ollis; brothers, Howard Russell and Johnny Russell; sisters, Ruth Williams and Helen McCall; beloved family member, Hazeleen Bowman. Survivors include sons, Albert Ollis of Hickory, Charles Ollis and wife, Jan, of Hickory; daughter, Wanda Joy Malin and husband, Robert E., of Conover; brothers, Joe Russell and wife, Betty, of Hendersonville and Guy Russell of Marion; sister, Betty Dalton and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Nathan Malin and wife, Chandra, Adam Malin and friend, Erica; great-grandchild, Journey Malin. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Wilson Family Funeral Care with Rev. Mark Schudde officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Wilson Family Funeral Care, 501 West State Street, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

I will never forget Mother Mary.Only God himself could create such a compassionate heart like she had. She loved her residents and her staff like no other Director of Nurses could. What a blessing for all that knew her.Go rest high on the mountain Mother.

Mary was a good person. Always ready to be of assistance to anyone. I had just recently saw a mutual friend who gave me Mary's last name and phone number.
