Milton Henry Cline Sr.

Milton Henry Cline, Sr., age 90, of Claremont, NC, passed away on Friday, September 09, 2016, at Conover Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born September 10, 1925, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Coley Cline and Ella Lee Wilson Cline.

Milton was a lifelong and active member of Bethany United Church of Christ where he had held numerous positions, including being an elder and deacon and also a former member of the choir. He retired from Roadway Express as a truck driver. Milton was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during World War II.

In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Aileen Reinhardt Cline, one sister, Mildred Cline Wilson, and one brother, John O. Cline.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda C. Travis and husband Glenn and Rebecca “Becky” Diane Cline both of Claremont, NC; two sons, Milton H. “Butch” Cline, Jr. and wife Betty of Newton, NC, and Michael “Mike” Cline and wife Donna of Claremont, NC; grandchildren, Keith Travis, Greg Travis, Rick Cline and Christy Cline; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Farah, Cody, Cole, Reese, Gabriel, Jordan, and Amber; sister, Marie Cline Deal of Conover, NC; and brother, Lylerly Cline of Claremont, NC.

A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Bethany United Church of Christ in Claremont, NC. Rev. Colleen Samson will officiate and burial with military rites by Newton American Legion Post #16 will follow. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 9:45 – 10:45 AM on Monday.

Milton’s grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bethany United Church of Christ, 2952 Bethany Church Road, Claremont, NC, 28610.
