Born November 21, 1954 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Everett and Maggie Mae Slaughter Long.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Steven McCurry, of the home; daughters, Sherry Wakefield and Melonie McCurry; sons, John Wakefield and Ryan McCurry; grandchildren, Bryan Warren, Casey Wakefield, Johnathon Wakefield, Taylor Warren, Aaliyah Wakefield, Dalton Oxendine, Brent Wakefield, Cheyenne McCurry; sisters, Brenda Jackson, Rachel Parris, Angela Long; brother, Robert Long; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 with Rev. Fred Thompson officiating.
Her family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Drum Funeral Home.
