Rebecca Bandy Hewitt

Rebecca Bandy Hewitt, 93, of Catawba County, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Ignite Medical Resort in Shelby, NC. Rebecca was born June 9, 1933, in Catawba County, to the late William and Leola Wilson Bandy.

Rebecca will be remembered as a beloved and cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her, and her memory will be held close by family and all who loved her. She had a passion for North Carolina basketball, Dallas Cowboy football, and NASCAR racing “Jeff Gordon”. She loved rescuing stray cats with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, husband Richard Hewitt; son, Todd Hewitt; and sister, Rita Ikerd and husband Bobby Ikerd.

Those left to cherish Rebecca’s memory are sons, Anthony “Tony” Scott Hewitt and wife Rhoda, Jason Keith Hewitt and wife Michelle; and a daughter, Heather Martin and husband Kenneth; Hayden Hewitt (Katie) of Burnet, TX, Hannah Spinks (Kirby) of Brownwood, TX, Layton Hewitt (Kelsey) of Vale, NC, Kendal Smith (Aaron) and Kadence O’Neal of Lawndale, NC, Olivia Martin (Max) of Hickory, NC, Abby Martin of Newton, NC and Kyra Martin of Raleigh, NC; and seven great grandchildren; and nephew, Tim Ikerd (Cindy) of Somerset, KY.

A graveside service will be held at 11am, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Eddie Gray officiating.

Psalms 23rd: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
