

Born March 3, 1942, in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late William Pinkney Cannon and Emaline Smith Cannon. In addition to being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont and retired from Caldwell County Schools after 28 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Ray Cannon, James “Jim” Cannon and Lester “Bud” Cannon and sisters Sadie Lail and Verna Beane.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 50 years, J. Hal Sigmon of Hudson; daughters, Renee Sigmon Kittrell of Corapeake and Michelle Sigmon of Charlotte; sons-in law John Taylor Kittrell and Craig Jones; four grandsons, John Sigmon Kittrell, Craig Jones, Jr., Andrew Jones and Christopher Jones, one granddaughter, Kathryn Kittrell; brothers Clarence “Jack” Cannon, Ivey Cannon, and Phillip Cannon, sisters, Edith “Bill” Lail, Effie Dishman, Anna Lea Duncan; brother-in-law Joe Fulbright and sister-in-law Vicky Lineberger; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joe Fulbright, Jr., Jerry Fulbright, Walter Fulbright, Bobby Lail, Victor Lineberger, and Jerry Stikeleather.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 p.m. prior to the Funeral Worship Service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5759 Bolick Road, Claremont, NC 28610. Rev. W. E. Duey will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in memory of Rebecca.
