

Rev. Dr. Linda Stack Morgan, a devoted minister, educator, and musician, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and education. She was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on November 8, 1942 to the late William Kermit Stack and Opal Virginia Maness.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by brothers, W.K. Stack, Bud Stack, and sister, Diane Stack Hollander.
In 1959, she married Paul Montgomery Morgan on November 15, beginning a lifelong journey rooted in love and shared purpose. In 1963, she gave birth to a baby boy, Monty Morgan. Her early years of service began in 1965 when she became a part-time minister of music at Oak View Baptist Church in High Point, NC, a position she held until 1975.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in French and voice from High Point University in 1967 and went on to teach French at Southeast Guilford High School until 1973. Her passion for ministry led her to obtain a Master of Divinity from the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1981.
Rev. Dr. Morgan served as an interim chaplain at High Point Memorial Regional Hospital in 1983 and later became an associate pastor and minister of music at Jewel Baptist Church in High Point until 1987. She continued her ministry at North Kannapolis United Methodist Church until 1989.
In 1999, she earned her Doctor of Ministry from the Columbia Theological Seminary, a testament to her commitment to continual learning and growth in faith.
Throughout her life, she served numerous congregations including: Mill Grove-Zion United Methodist Churches in Indian Trail, NC (1989–1991), Ansonville-Cedar Hill-Concord-Salem United Methodist Churches in Ansonville, NC (1991–1997), Laboratory United Methodist Church in Lincolnton, NC (1997–2001), Messiah United Methodist Church in Lincolnton, NC (2001–2006), Clarksbury United Methodist Church in Harmony, NC (2006–2008), Moriah United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC (2008–2009), and Golden Valley United Methodist Church in Bostic, NC (2009–2018). She was also associated with the Western NC United Methodist Church Conference.
Even in retirement, Rev. Dr. Morgan remained active in her community, singing with the Catawba Valley Community Chorus until 2020.
Those left to cherish Linda’s memory are her beloved husband of 65 years, Paul Morgan; son, Monty Morgan (Theresa); grandchildren, Joshua Morgan (Erica), Chad Morgan (Joanna); great grandchildren, Emery Morgan and Tyler Morgan.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Frist United Method Church of Hickory, 311 Third Ave NE, Hickory, NC 28601 with Reverend Paul Christy and Reverend Betty A. Helms officiating. Family will receive after the service.
Rev. Dr. Linda Stack Morgan will be remembered for her deep faith, her musical gifts, and her tireless dedication to ministry and education. She leaves behind a legacy of spiritual leadership and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
