Richard Hayden Wadlington, Jr., age 54, of Conover, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at his residence after a period of declining health. Born October 23, 1963, in Palm Beach County, FL, he was the son of Geraldine “Jeri” McGhee Wadlington of Conover, NC, and the late Richard Hayden Wadlington, Sr.
Richard was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Smith & Sons Paving in Pineola, NC. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends and his dog, Joshua Ryan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Geraldine “Jeri” McGhee Wadlington of Conover, NC; daughters, Stephanie Wadlington of Lewis, NY, and Nicole Wadlington of Connelly Springs, NC; sons, Joe Wadlington of Conover, NC, and Scott Logan of MN; half-sister, Kristine Wadlington of Cadiz, KY; grandchildren, Cameron Armstrong, Chase Armstrong, Sarah Gibson, Seth Gibson, and Mathew Wadlington; mothers of his children, Becky Welder of Ocala, FL, Donna Wood of Connelly Springs, NC, and his former wife, Pamela Wadlington of Newton, NC; and numerous cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 20, 2018, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover, NC, with Rev. Byron Repass officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
