Rita Jeanne Moser Busbee, 70, of Claremont, passed away at her residence on April 1, 2018. Rita was born on April 5, 1947 in Catawba County. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted parents, Lorene Sigmon Moser and Richard Moser; and her father-in-law, John A. Busbee.
She is survived by her husband who she married on April 5, 1969, John Robert Busbee (Bobby) of the home; daughters, Suzanne Busbee Snyder and husband, Jason of Columbia, SC; Andrea Busbee Ramsey and husband, Scott of Claremont; son, John Moser Busbee and husband, Rodney Foster of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Cole Busbee Snyder, Mia Frances Snyder, and London Busbee Ramsey; mother-in-law, Mary E. Busbee; and numerous friends and relatives.
Rita was a graduate of Bunker High School in 1965, and she graduated from Appalachian State University in 1969. Rita taught in the Catawba County School system for 22 years, but retired in 1992 to take care of her mother. Over the years, Rita served on the Catawba Valley Medical Center Board of Directors, ECCCM Board of Directors, Catawba Regional Hospice Board of Directors, and the Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley Board of Directors. She also donated countless hours to her church, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Claremont, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Rita also served as the first female President of the church congregation, and also served a number of years with the Women of the Church. She also helped raise money for the March of Dimes, and donated time and money to ALFA and OUTright Youth of Catawba Valley. Rita was also the coordinator for the National Day of Prayer in Claremont a number of years.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at 3216 West Main Street in downtown Claremont on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m with Rev. Dr. Gary Haddock officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held following the service in the Family Life Center of the church.
