Robert Andrew Sherrill Sr.

Born December 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Margaret Barringer Beard and Charles Sherrill. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Korean War. Bob was an active member of Friendship U.M. Church of Newton for 68 years. He was always 1st in line at any dinner and was always remembered by his firm handshake.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Janie Whisnant Sherrill; siblings, Lowell Beard and Brenda Propst; a nephew, Mitchell Lefevers; additional family,Wally Griffin and Fred Morrison.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his children, Marcha and Chad Stewart, Robert Sherrill Jr., Lisa and James Picklesimer, Melissa Sherrill; grandchildren, Wendy and Louie Brown, Jennifer Hefner, Emilie Sherrill, Tara Feltman, Gary Medlin and 11 great-grandchildren; remaining family, companion Lona Murray, Alvin and Carol Beard, Elizabeth Rozzelle, Kevin Beard and family, Micheal Lefevers and family, Alvin Beard Jr., Michelle Walling, Cathy Morrison, Mike and Fran Griffin and family.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church with Reverend David Hamlyn and Pastor Kevin Beard to officiate. Burial will follow in Church cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.
