S. M. "Pete" Keller Sr.

S. M. “Pete” Keller, Sr., age 72, of Claremont, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC. Born July 19, 1945, in Catawba County, NC, he was the son of the late James Dulan Keller and Lilly May Dishman Keller.

Pete was a retired truck driver from Foamex, and a member of Open Word Holiness Church in Newton, NC.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Jane Keller; brothers, Samuel L. Keller and James R. Keller; sisters, Georgia Mae Rowe, Edna Craig and Hazel Hedrick.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Cathy Lee Keller of Claremont, NC; sons, Terry D. Keller and wife, Kathy of Hildebran, NC, Jerry D. Keller of Hickory, NC, Stephen M. Keller, Jr. and wife, Dana, of Claremont, NC, and Wesley S. Poarch of Granite Falls, NC; stepson, Tim R. Abernathy and wife, Eva, of Maiden, NC; and brother, Monroe “Buck” L. Keller of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Crystal Keller, Stephen Keller, Donnie Townsend, Michael Keller, Linda Miller, Dakota Rowe, A.J. Cooper, Megan Keller, Stephanie Killian, Miranda Keller, Samantha Keller, Angelina Keller, Kim Keller, Braydon Killian, and Wyatt Poarch; numerous great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Pete’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Open Word Holiness Church in Newton, NC, with Rev. Matthew Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Maiden, NC. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:45 to 1:45 PM on Thursday.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of Mr.Keller's family! Mr.Keller was a sweet man and will be missed, I will always remember him and how he loved going to the cabin in the mountains. Love, Tammy
