Shirley Ruth Hefner Dellinger

Shirley Ruth Hefner Dellinger, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2018, at Trinity Village in Hickory, NC. Born April 23, 1928, in Catawba County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Wade Roscoe Hefner and Ora Mae Childers Hefner.

Shirley was a lifelong member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, ELCA in Hickory, NC, and had retired from Vanguard Furniture Co.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Hewitt Thomas Dellinger and a sister, Margie Hollar.

Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Huffman and husband, Richard, of Hickory, NC; son, Randy Dellinger and wife, Debbie, of Claremont, NC; grandchildren, Mandy O’Rourke and husband Barry, of Hickory, NC, and Hunter Dellinger of Claremont, NC; great-granddaughter, Kacie Kehoe; brother-in-law Bryce Hollar of Hickory, NC; and nephew, Michael Hollar and wife Sherrill of Hickory, NC.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 5, 2018, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, ELCA, with Rev. Greg Brown officiating. The burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory, NC. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 PM on Monday.
