Tyler Floyd

January 22, 1997August 4, 2019

Tyler Floyd, age 22, of Hickory, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. He was born on January 22, 1997 in Catawba County, the son of Glenn Allen Floyd, Jr. and Kellie Rudisill Roark.

Tyler was a very loving person who enjoyed making people laugh. He never met a stranger, and would give you the shirt off his back and his last dollar. The light of his life was his little sister, Sissy. He was a blessing to others when you were trying to be a blessing to him. He was a special gift of a person. He was a member of Catawba Valley Muscle, and a Cheesehead and loved his Packers. He was often found picking on others about their teams. He loved to cook, and taught himself to play acoustical guitar. He will be greatly missed. He already is.

He was preceded in death by stepfather, Luther Roark; grandmother, Linda Travis Floyd; and several great-grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Kellie Roark; sister, Olivia Roark; father, Glen Allen Floyd; grandparents, Hank and Rebecca Rudisill; grandfather, Glenn Alan Floyd Sr., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church, 5262 Whitener Road, Hickory, NC 28602, with Rev. Eddie Reynolds and Rev. Derrick Holland officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, August 8, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Kellie,
I was Tyler's counselor at St. Stephens High School. I am so sad to hear of his passing. He was such a sweet young man, always polite. I know he didn't feel well on many days but he still had a smile on his face. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Tyler has been dear to our family for over 15 years. His uncle Chris is married to my sister, Hanna. He was always loved on by our family and we enjoyed his sweet personality. Tyler loved his cousin Joshua, his uncle Chris, & Aunt Hanna so much. We welcomed him into our family like he always belonged and we are so sad of his passing, but are comforted knowing he is with Jesus and no longer suffering. We love you sweet Tyler, and Chris will take care of your sissy for you !

To the family of a loving son:
Tyler attended the dialysis center with me. The obituary was correct in saying, "Tyler never met a stranger." Tyler always had a kind word to say to me. And, he always shared his love. I will miss seeing Tyler and his father at dialysis. I love them both as my family. My condolences and prayers for the family.

Yours truly, I am
