Velma Campbell Poole

Velma Campbell Poole, age 92, of Catawba, went home to be with the Lord and her husband of almost 80 years, Carson Benjamin Poole, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Brian Center East in Hickory. Born October 11, 1921 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late William Pinkney Campbell and Nettie MaeBelle Abernethy Campbell. She was a lifetime member of Mathis Chapel Baptist Church in Catawba and loved her church. Maw loved to cook, garden and had a special love for children.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Campbell, Glenn Campbell, Lester Campbell and sisters, Bertha Campbell Eades and Ola Campbell Travis.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Mathis Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Triplett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church.
