

William “Speedy” Edmondson, age 59, of Claremont, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at his residence. Born October 8, 1953 in Catawba County, he was the son of Neva Charlene Roseman Edmondson and the late William Hardy Edmondson. He was a member of Mt. View United Methodist Church in Claremont and a shipping/receiving manager in the manufacturing industry. Speedy was not a selfish person and wanted his funeral service to glorify his Lord and Saviour and not himself. He loved his family, grandchildren, and his church. He enjoyed restoring old automobiles and playing golf.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Wayne Edmondson.
Speedy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Doris Edmondson, of the home; mother, Charlene Edmondson of Claremont; sons, Jeffery Allen Edmondson and wife, Sandi, of Maiden, William Brian Edmondson and wife, Chassidy Edmondson, of Claremont; brothers, Phillip Dennis Edmondson of Claremont; sister, Pamela Edmondson Rufty and husband, Terry, of Catawba; grandchildren, Angalique Edmondson, Jeani Edmondson, Brandon Edmondson, Casey Edmondson, Haylie Edmondson, Christopher Lynch; and special friend, his dog, Chanel.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Mt. View United Methodist Church on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Richard Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mt. View United Methodist Church. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Herman, Wesley Simpson, Lynn Killian, Dylan Rufty, Pete Lusk and Steve Wright.
