Aggie, with her loving brothers Gaylon and Raymond, grew up mostly in East Texas including Liberty and Beaumont with a few years of her life spent in San Francisco, California in the 1940s during the war effort. After attending high school in Liberty, Aggie spent a few years in New Orleans, Louisiana where her daughter Lola and son John D were born. Around 1970 Aggie, Lola and John D moved to Sheldon, Texas. For several years in the 1970s, she worked at Gulf Supply Company and, as a single mother, proudly supported and raised her two children. In 1977, Aggie met the love of her life Pete Koch at a “bookstore” and shortly thereafter they married on May 13th. Their devoted marriage continued for 46 years.
If you knew Aggie, you’re aware that she was first and foremost a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. This was most important in her life. She was an avid book reader and enjoyed learning about the history and cultures of the world. You might say she was a walking dictionary and encyclopedia of knowledge. Aggie loved traveling and often spoke of her wonderful family trips to Europe, Asia, other countries and the many fun vacations at Disneyland. She was great at tole painting, knitting and sewing. In the 1970s, she enjoyed sewing all of Lola’s dance teams’ costumes and she always had time to pitch the baseball with John D. In Aggie and Pete’s retirement years, they often volunteered in support of our country which they dearly loved.
To sum it up, Aggie cherished the simple and virtuous things in life. She loved to laugh, was very bold and forthright, patriotic, practical, down to earth, caring and her heart was full of generosity. Though small in stature, Aggie was a strong woman who had a giant impact on her family, friends and loved ones.
Aggie is survived by her loving husband Pete Koch, her daughter Lola Jordan, son John D and his wife Mona Jordan and their sons Ben, and Travis and his wife Herlinda and their son Jasper; her brothers Gaylon Duncan and Raymond “Dunk” Duncan and his wife Marie, and her nieces Kileen, Toni, Dana and Yvonne and their families.
We will deeply miss Aggie (Mom) but her memory will always live in our hearts. To God be the glory.
A visitation for Agnes will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303, followed by a celebration of life from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
