Albert Carlton “Mac” McCorkle, Sr. passed away on January 2nd, 2019 at the age of 89 in Conroe, Texas. He was born on May 19th,1929 in Shelby, Mississippi to Arch Carlton McCorkle and Sara Murphree McCorkle. Mac was an avid pilot flying his beloved 1968 Piper Cherokee since 1974. He was a supervisor at Williams Brothers Construction Company for over 20 years. He is lovingly called “Pepaw” by his grandson Eric McCorkle and wife, Suzanne and great grandchildren Eric and Sarah McCorkle. Mac is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Bobbie McCorkle and his son Albert C. McCorkle, Jr. He is survived by his grandson Eric McCorkle and wife Suzanne of Crosby; great grandchildren, Eric McCorkle, Jr and Sarah Mae McCorkle and many friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 2:00pm in Cashner Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Bufkin, Charles Chatman, Bubba Hackett, Rick Cade, Eric McCorkle Jr and Don Brewer. I worked with Mr. Mac from 1970 until he retired. He took me on my first plane ride. A few years ago he flew up here to Nacogdoches and we spent the whole day together eating lunch and riding around. That was a great day I’ll always remember. If I’m not mistaken that was the last time he flew. I will greatly miss him.
