On November 11, 2015 Anna McKinney passed away. Not only was she a wife and a mother of two; She was a veteran of the United States Army. It is fitting she died on Veterans Day. Her husband and her sons were also veterans and served their country multiple times overseas. Veterans Day will now always have a special meaning to her family. It will be a time to remember those who served and a time to remember a person who has achieved so much for her family.
Once Anna completed her service in the US Army, she continued her service to the public by becoming a police officer for Harris County in Houston, Texas. She dedicated her life to the service of others. It is this service that brought joy to her life and admiration by her family and friends.
Anna’s family was her legacy. She gave so much to ensure her sons had every opportunity in life. It never needed to be said, but she loved her sons and her sons loved her. Often times you would get the old cliché of boys will be boys. When Tim and JT would get into trouble, their mother would set them straight. She would always be fair and never hold a grudge.
In her passing she left behind her husband of almost 30 years, Jeff L. McKinney. During her last weeks on this earth he spent nearly every waking hour by her bedside. He would give up anything just to hold her hand one more time. Anna and Jeff had plans to retire soon. During this retirement they were going to travel across the United States. Now her husband will have to travel with her in spirit and with her memories close to his heart.
Anna will always be loved and she will forever be missed. Goodbye Anna and may you rest in peace.
