Anna Mae Bardwell Walker, born to Lloyd and Bessie Bardwell on September 29th, 1929 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, went Home to be with her Lord on October 15th, 2018. Though diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2000 and only given a few years to live, the Lord had other plans for her, and she defied the odds. In recent years, however, she was so ready to meet her Savior face to face and be reunited with her loved ones who have gone before. Though we grieve for our loss, we rejoice in her great gain.
Anna moved to Longview, Texas, before eventually settling in Conroe and living the bulk of her life there. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Conroe and later a member of Mims Baptist Church in Conroe. She worked at the Animal Hospital of Conroe for approximately 30 years, first alongside Dr. Robert Garrett and then with her dear friend, Dr. Patricia Faubion.
Anna is survived by three children, Linda (and Chuck) Wilkison of Western Grove, Arkansas; Thomas Shadoin of Conroe, Texas; and George (and Angela) Shadoin of Ooltewah, Tennessee; three grandchildren, David (and Stephanie) Gray of Georgetown, Texas; Rebekah (and Owen) Hargraves of Ooltewah, Tennessee; and Andrew Shadoin also of Ooltewah, Tennessee. Seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends also grieve her passing, including her dear friend of many, many years, Marge Neel of Monticello, Arkansas.
Anna Walker will forever be remembered as a devoted follower of Christ, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and for her spitfire, wonderfully stubborn, fiercely loving and loyal personality. She has been treasured by many and will be sorely missed.
Services will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe on Sunday, October 21. Visitation will be from 2-3:30 pm, followed by the funeral at 4pm. Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse or to the charity of your choice.
