Arthur Adelord Drouin Sr.

Art was born to Helen and Alfred Drouin on November 8,1936 in Waterbury, CT. He joined the Air Force at 18 and served honorably for 8 years. He married Sarah (Sally) Howe Dimon in Jan. 1957 while serving in Hawaii. They had three children and settled in Houston, Texas and eventually moved to Conroe.

Art believed strongly in giving back to his community as evidenced by his service as a Volunteer Fireman, Little League Coach, PTA and Fort Bend ISD School Board Member and President. He was very involved with the Lions Club serving as District Governor and receiving both the Melvin Jones Fellowship and Lifetime Achievement awards for his service to Lions Clubs. Art devoted most of his later life to developing and establishing multiple Lions Clubs across the country and working with the Lions Club Camp in Kerrville Texas. His recognition for these efforts is too numerous to mention. He proudly served in his local VFW Honor Guard, and he was a mentor to multiple students in Conroe ISD. He even drove a school bus for a few years.

In his younger years he liked to play golf, watch sports and root for the Astros.

He was a devoted, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great/great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his mother Helen, father Alfred, two sisters Rita and Elaine and his brother Richard. He is survived by his sons Art Jr. and wife Charlotte, David Joseph and wife Michelle and daughter Cheryl Lynn Wood and husband Mike along with his grandchildren Michelle, Lauren, Jessica, Tabitha, Tyler, Tarah and great grandchildren Aidan, Bryson, Nixon, Corbyn, Atlas, Delta & great/great grandchild Samuel.

There will be a Memorial Service held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe on July 18, 2026, at 2pm followed by a VFW Honor Guard ceremony and reception. His remains will eventually be interred at the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77036 (no graveside service is planned). In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Texas Lions Camp, 4000 TX-27, Kerrville TX 78028 (www.lionscamp.com ).
