Barbara Hannah Doctoroff, born February 17, 1950 in Trenton, NJ, passed away on May 12, 2018 at the age of 68. Barbara grew up Barbara Davidson in Trenton, NJ as the oldest of five siblings. She dedicated her life to her family, friends and her work in education helping to teach kids with special needs. She was introduced via blind date to her future husband, Arthur, in 1967. They married in 1970 and lived in the Philadelphia area. After attending Marshal University, she completed her Bachelors and Masters of Education from Trenton State College. In 1980, Barbara and Art along with their 2 sons, moved to the Houston area to escape the cold weather and looking for new opportunities. After having worked as a Special Education teacher at The Summit School in Levittown, PA, she began her career in Texas with Conroe ISD at McCullough High School. She’d later serve as the Educational Diagnostician at Travis Jr. High and Peete Jr. High. She retired in 2006 after over 30 years helping to educate those that needed the most help. Barbara was a wife, mother, sister, friend, and mentor to so many. Her favorite title was most certainly “Bubbe”, being a grandmother to five. After her parents passed away, she was a mother to her 2 younger brothers. She never refused to help anyone that needed it, whether it be as an educator in public schools, as the director of the Sunday School for Congregation Beth Shalom where the Doctoroff’s were founding members, with her knitting group where they made hats for cancer patients (and the occasional tree sweater), or just for her many friends. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Leona Davidson, and sisters Marsha Davidson and Beverly Davidson. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Arthur Doctoroff of The Woodlands, son Lee Doctoroff and wife Mandy of The Woodlands, son Ross Doctoroff and wife Sujey of Houston, brother Mark Davidson and wife Dorothy of Delaware, brother Joel Davidson and wife Vân of Washington, nephew Aaron Davidson and wife Adria of Minnesota, and nephew Brian Davidson with wife Shiori and son Ansel of California, nephew Kyle Davidson and wife Zoe of New Jersey and nephew Bradley Davidson of Philadelphia. Most important to her were her grandchildren Casey, Josef, Avi, Noah, and Adley whom she loved absolutely and enjoyed doting on. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Congregation Beth Shalom of The Woodlands (5125 Shadowbend Pl., The Woodlands, TX 77381).
