An amazingly beautiful and much beloved soul went to be with the Lord on the evening of January 20, 2019. Barbara Lou Fortune Dwyer of Rivershire in Conroe, Texas passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 90.
The memorial service will be held at St. James the Apostle Episcopal Church at 1803 Highland Hollow Dr, Conroe, off Highway 105 at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, officiated by The Rev. Jerald Hyche.
Barbara was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 8, 1928 to Morris and Clara Fortune. She loved nature and gardening, people, bridge and card games, reading avidly, fashion, cooking, and the Lord’s ways. She was a wonderful example of God’s grace on earth; she was always forgiving and kind.
She will be sorely missed by her husband; daughters Debra DeOre and husband James and Jody Stephenson and husband John Mark; and grandchildren: Erica Demet and husband Eren, Logan DeOre, Angela Stephenson, and Alex Stephenson and 2 great grandchildren (who would often hitch a ride on her scooter); sister Bernice Wolford and husband Van; nieces: Cindy Sumner and husband John, and Cheryl Wolford.
