Bettye Jo Hopper passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, November 14, 2021. She was 92 years old. Bettye was born in Quail, Texas on May 6, 1929. Her parents were Jessie Lee Powell and Bessie Lou Powell. She had five sisters and three brothers all are deceased. Bettye attended elementary school in Paris, Texas and graduated from Borger High School in Borger, Texas. On May 30, 1947, she married Glenn Hopper, in Borger, Texas. They were married 68 years when he passed in 2016.
Bettye is survived by her children, Gleynda Anderson, Dee Anne Galindo, and Charles Hopper. She has eleven grandchildren, Alexis Jones, Lisa Henderson, Amanda Porter, Denny Galindo, Annette Kruiez, Scott Galindo, Bobby Galindo, Juli Hopper, Caroline Johnson, Emily Hopper and Lucy Hopper. Bettye also has sixteen great grandchildren.
Bettye resided in Borger, Texas, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Conroe, Texas and Frisco, Texas. She worked at Panhandle Bank and Trust in Borger, Texas and National Zinc in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Her hobbies included cooking, playing bridge, dominoes and needlework. She also enjoyed boating in Texas and Oklahoma, and raising their five race horses. Her very favorite thing was spending time with her grandchildren!
Bettye’s services will be at Cashner Funeral home in Conroe, Texas. Visitation will be Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 3-5 PM.
