Billy lived life in his own distinct way — equal parts grit, kindness, and a knack for keeping everyone guessing what he might say next. Whether he was fixing something that “wasn’t broken, just improved,” telling a story that somehow got taller each time it was told, or offering a helping hand before you even asked, Billy had a way of leaving people better than he found them.
Billy believed in showing up — for family dinners, fishing trips, or just to drink coffee and argue about the weather. He had a laugh that could fill a room, a stubborn streak that could stop a freight train, and a heart big enough to forgive anyone — though he might make you sweat a bit first.
Billy was a part of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners Organization. He worked for ArmCo Steel for 25 years as a Millwright. He also worked at Huntsman Plant for 14 years and retired in 2003. Billy loved to hunt, fish and to go metal detecting.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Sonny Boy Wiggins and Maudie McDaniel; brother, Jerry Wayne Wiggins; sister, Sherry Ann Wiggins; and granddaughter, Brittany Eden Cruz.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jimmie Stearns; children, Debbrah Taliaferro and her husband Faren and Darrell Stearns; grandchildren, Billy Apgar, Samantha Stearns, Daniel Stearns.
A funeral service for Billy will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. Following the funeral service will be a graveside in Conroe Memorial Park, 1600 Porter Rd, Conroe, TX 77301. He wouldn’t want people sitting around being sad — he’d want them swapping stories, sharing a meal, and maybe even arguing about who caught the biggest fish.
Rest easy, Billy. We’ll keep the coffee hot and the porch light on.
