November 9, 1950 – August 9, 2022
Glenn was born to Larry & Mable Doig in Anniston, Alabama. Around age 5, his family moved to Southern California. He is survived by his 3 sons Justin, Brian (Crystal), Ethan, his youngest sister, Vicki (Raymond) Woods and 3 his granddaughters Marie, Jane, and Kate Doig. He was preceded in death by his father Larry, mother Mable, sister Wanda (Fred) Eck, sister Linda Pineda, and brother Bill.
He became interested in the Worldwide Church of God upon hearing the 1960s radio broadcast concerning the Israeli war. His interest piqued by the church behind the broadcast, he began taking their literature. He was still a teenager at that time and his father was adamantly opposed to this religion. However, Glenn applied to Ambassador College, Pasadena, and attended after graduating from high school. His first church service was in the preceding summer. Graduating from Ambassador in 1973, he was sent to Canada to serve in the full-time ministry as a ministerial assistant. He served in Prince George, British Columbia then Calgary, Alberta.
He was sent back to Ambassador Pasadena in January 1977 for a year-long sabbatical program. During the fall semester, he met his future wife, Karen Treybig. In January 1978 he was sent to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan as an associate pastor.
Later that summer he and Karen married and began their 32 years together. In December 1978, he was transferred to serve in Anchorage, Alaska. In December 1980, his first son, Justin, was born. In the spring of 1981, he was transferred to Soldotna, Alaska to serve as the pastor. In April 1983, his second son, Brian, was born. In the summer of 1984, he was transferred to Kansas to serve the congregations of Hays, Salina & Scott City. In November 1987, his third son, Ethan, was born. In the summer of 1988, he was transferred to serve the Shreveport, Louisiana and Texarkana, Texas congregations. July 1994 he was transferred to San Jose, California, where he served for 4 years. In the summer of 1998, he moved to the Houston area where he remained until his death.
Glenn’s faith was of paramount importance to him. He truly felt that serving all the brethren in the many areas he was assigned was both a privilege and a calling. The many opportunities of Alaska were a treasured memory. He was also blessed with the opportunity to travel internationally, enjoying new experiences, and meeting new people. An avid reader with an extensive library; he was a collector and all-around adorer of books. He deeply loved his family. Glenn will be dearly missed, but remembered by his loved ones, who are grateful that he is now at peace.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”
