Carolyn Jane Everitt, 81, was born on December 23, 1944, in Beaumont, Texas, at a Naval Hospital, and passed away on September 21, 2026. A woman deeply cherished by those who knew her, Carolyn will be remembered with enduring respect and affection for the steady care she gave to others and the quiet strength with which she met life each day.
Carolyn attended Aldine High School and later devoted many years of dedicated service to the Conroe Independent School District, from which she eventually retired. Throughout her life, Carolyn was known for her strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to do whatever needed to be done. She approached both her work and her responsibilities to family and others with quiet strength and genuine care.
At heart, Carolyn was a country girl. She raised cattle, trained horses, and spent countless hours working in the fields and pastures, never afraid to get her hands dirty or put in a hard day’s work. She had a natural patience and attentiveness with animals and took great pride in caring for them and doing things the right way. Her love of the land, animals, and the simple satisfaction of a job well done were a true reflection of who she was.
Carolyn was married to Donald L. Everitt. She was the mother of three sons: Ted Allen Tate, Michael Edward Kowis, and William Wade Kowis. In the everyday rhythms of home and family, she showed a thoughtful devotion—helping whenever she could, offering practical support, and making her love known through presence and action rather than display.
In her personal time, Carolyn found joy in simple pleasures and familiar comforts. She loved music and dancing, enjoyed playing cards with loved ones and close friends, and took satisfaction in mowing the yard. She delighted in watching birds at her bird feeders and cared faithfully for her dogs—small, daily acts that reflected the warmth and steadiness of her heart.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Cooper; her father, Floyd F. Cooper, Sr.; her brother, Mark A. Cooper; her brother, Floyd Cooper, Jr.; her son, Ted A. Tate; and her husband, Donald L. Everitt. She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Marilyn; her son William and his wife Joanne; and numerous other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. After the first mention, those who loved her will continue to speak of “Carolyn Jane” with gratitude for a life marked by devotion, diligence, and a lasting, beloved presence.
