Celso Amaya
July 26, 1952 – March 11, 2023

IN THE CARE OF
Cashner Funeral Home & Garden Park Cemetery
Celso Amaya of Willis, Texas passed away at his home on the morning of March 11, 2023. He was 70 years old.
Celso was born in La Paz, Honduras on July 26, 1952. He never knew his birth parents. He only knew that they were killed when he was an infant. He was lovingly raised by a Christian woman who taught him about the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ. As a youth, he felt a call and attended seminary. He was introduced there to an in-depth study of the Holy Bible, which remained a passion for his entire life.
At 14, the Honduran military required him to join to fight the Sandinistas. He was shot twice before his 15th birthday. After completing his service, he went home to work to help support his family. He had a love for anything and everything construction. During this time, he worked extensively in the Cayman Islands in construction and traveled to London, England to study and receive his construction license.
In 1996, he decided to immigrate to the USA to pursue his construction career. He arrived in Houston and immediately fell in love with all things Texas! He never left the United States again in his life. He traveled extensively working for various construction firms but always kept his residence in Texas.
In 2006, he met his future wife, Debbie Manning, at a residential construction site when he went to help a contractor friend of his. It was most definitely “love at first sight” for them both. He remained working on that job through completion. Debbie recognized his amazing talent and they collaborated on another house. The partnership eventually transitioned from “cosmetic flips” to custom new construction homes that sold in the millions.
Celso is survived by his Amaya children, Albis, Elias, Nellin, Hernan, and Nohemi. He is also survived by Debbie’s children, Meredith and Tish who he adored and he considered as his own. Family was everything to him.
A visitation for Celso will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. A graveside service will occur Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, Coldspring, TX 77331.
