

A memorial service for Charles B. Corbit, age 71, of Conroe will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend John Singleton and Rick Young officiating. A private interment for the family only will be in Garden Park Cemetery prior to the service. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, December 27, 2010 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Cashner Funeral Home.
Charles was born October 3, 1939 in Bowling Green, Kentucky and passed away on December 23, 2010, in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Tennessee and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He managed various companies over the years, and he and his family moved to Conroe, Texas in 1978 to go into business with Charlie's college roommate. They established Womack-Corbit Grain Corporation. In 1982, he and Jane started White Fox Travel. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an active member in all facets of congregational life as an Elder and participant of various ministries. Charlie, as he was known by his many friends and family had a love of life and enjoyed Bible study, reading, traveling, playing poker, and water sports. As an avid golfer at River Plantation and Bentwater Country Clubs, he enjoyed playing and was very competitive. His curiosity, his kindness, his sense of humor and his smile will be missed by his family and many friends he has made over the years.
Charlie's life was blessed with a loving wife of 41 years, Jane Corbit of Conroe; daughter, Melinda Cortez of Nashville, Tennessee; sons, Charles Michael Corbit and Melvin Douglas Corbit, both of Nashville, Tennessee, David Lee Corbit and wife Dana of Conroe, and Devin Lee Corbit and wife Sally of Richmond, Texas; brother, George Corbit and wife Naomi of Cleveland, Tennessee; sister, Shirley Green and husband Tommy of Charleston, Tennessee; grandchildren, DeAnna Bone, Sheena Shelton, Hunter Corbit Whitley, Austin Charles Corbit and Sean Robert Corbit. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Inez Corbit, a brother, Joseph Corbit, a grandchild, Alex Ray Corbit, and a daughter-in-law, Nicole Corbit.
