Christina Slusher McCauley, born May 10, 1963 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, Ky., died on January 1, 2014 in Conroe Tx. after a long battle with liver disease. She was the beloved daughter of Sandra Wigginton, Friendswood,Tx. and Joseph L.McCauley, Houston, Tx. She was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Slusher , Middlesboro, Ky. and former Middlesboro mayor Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. McCauley, Sr. Both grandfathers are deceased.
Chrissy began playing the violin in New Haven, Conn. when she was in 3rd grade and continued through high school at Houston’s High School for Performing and Visual Arts. She was Concertmaster for several years in the Houston All-City Orchestra. Upon graduation, she was named the most valuable player of the year. Chrissy attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.on music scholarships and studied there for three semesters. She spent one year at the University of Kentucky also on music scholarships.
Chrissy was always optimistic, cheerful, and had an infectous smile and laugh. She continued with this attitude even after being placed on the liver transplant list.
Chrissy is survived by her longtime partner, Thomas Moore, her son, Joshua, her parents and step-parents-Tim Wigginton and Cornelia Kuffner. She is also survived by her two sisters-Katie McCauley and Marianne Vargas, her two half-brothers-Hans and Finn Kuffner-McCauley, her three stepsisters-Michelle Travers(Josh), Stephanie Kowalczyk(Craig), and Emily Stone. In addition, she leaves behind aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous friends. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Funeral and burial will be in Middlesboro, Ky. With services provided by Green Hills Funeral Home on Thursday January 9, 2014. Visitation 11:00-1:00 with funeral and burial afterwards.
