Christopher Craig Garrison

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Christopher Craig Garrison, 57, of Conroe, Texas, on Monday, September 14, 2026. Chris was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, coach, and friend. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, kind spirit, loyalty to those he loved, and profound strength in the times it mattered the most.

Chris was born on November 8, 1968 in McAllen, Texas, to William H. Garrison and Susan Crandall. He grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Stratford High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University and later a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Texas A&M-Commerce.

On July 18, 1992, Chris married the love of his life, Lisa Etheredge. Together they raised their two children; Ashley McCalpin (Brendan McCalpin) and Christopher Cale Garrison (Camryn Garrison). He was a proud grandfather, “Popsy”, to two precious girls, Blair and Hollis McCalpin. He also leaves behind his mother, Susan Crandall Garrison, and brother, Brian Garrison, as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sally and Lynn Etheredge, and his brother-in-law, Lane Etheredge. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Garrison. Chris always expressed that his greatest accomplishment was his family and he was immensely proud of them.

From an early age, Chris dedicated his time to football, baseball, and basketball. He was an exceptional athlete in the Houston area and played college football at Blinn College and Lamar University before continuing his education. Chris coached and taught at several high schools, ultimately spending the final years of his 30-year career in education at College Park High School in Conroe ISD. After retiring, he worked at TR Facility Services and enjoyed broadcasting the College Park Cavalier football games as a commentator. While he loved playing and coaching football and other sports, his greatest purpose as a coach was teaching his student-athletes life lessons about perseverance, respect, and character. He cared deeply about his players and took great pride in watching them grow both on and off the field.

Chris’s greatest passion was sports. From relaxing on Saturdays watching College GameDay to traveling to support his former players, his free time often revolved around whatever game was on. Additionally, Chris loved deer hunting, bass fishing, and the Texas Hill Country. He always looked forward to the annual family trip to New Braunfels, Texas for the Fourth of July to recharge and enjoy floating the river. But some of Chris’s greatest joys came from the simple moments shared with the people he loved.

Chris’s faith was the cornerstone of his life and carried him through life’s happiest times and most difficult challenges. He lived that faith through the way he loved his family, cared for others, and remained steadfast even during the hardest days of his battle with pancreatic cancer.

A service celebrating Chris’s life will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary at The Woodlands Methodist Church. A reception will follow at the church.
