How can you sum up a beloved man is such few words? Christopher Shipe exuded love, compassion, loyalty, wisdom and humor. He had a way of drawing you in and making you feel comfortable. Many have said he was always positive and warm. Chris always wanted to make people smile with his humor and kindness and always offered his help as much as he could. He had a gentleness and patience about him that is difficult to describe. He truly had a giving heart.
Chris was loved deeply by many people and will be missed fiercely. His absence has left a huge hole that will never be filled.
As he resided in Texas with his love, Vivian and stepchildren, Audrey, Elliott and Evelyn, his heart was partly with his own children in Pennsylvania: Gavin, Gracie and Helen. His eyes would light up when speaking about them and it was apparent how much he loved and missed his children. He also leaves behind a mother, Donna, and many friends and family in Virginia and Texas.
He volunteered many years in the Fire Department of Strasburg, VA. He worked as a plumber and in transportation logistics. He loved to hunt and fish. Chris had a new found love of the Texas Renaissance festival and making steampunk creations. He had a special fondness for cats, often spending hours with a cat curled on his lap. No surprise, as he had such a calm and comforting presence.
Although we do not understand the reasons why he left us, we should take comfort knowing that he loved and was loved deeply.
