Clara was a very beloved person whose presence touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was kind, compassionate, resilient, hardworking, and gentle—a truly lovely soul. Clara had a special way of making others feel cared for, valued, and loved. Her strength carried her through life’s challenges, while her gentle heart and compassion left a lasting impression on all those around her.
To her family, Clara was more than a mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a source of comfort, wisdom, warmth, and unconditional love. She was affectionately known as “Mimi” by her grandchildren, a name that will forever be connected with cherished memories, tenderness, and the love she so freely gave.
Clara was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where she attended St. Pius High School and Sam Houston High School. She dedicated much of her working life to caring for others. She worked at Heights Hospital, where she cared for newborn babies. She later continued her career in food service with Aldine ISD and eventually retired from New Waverly ISD.
Clara’s caring spirit extended beyond her work and into her faith and community. She enjoyed serving alongside her church community, helping with Adoration and Helping Hands. She found joy in giving her time and heart to others. She also took great pride in caring for her family farm, a place that held special meaning and memories for her and her loved ones.
Clara will be remembered not only for all she did for others, but for the love, warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit she shared with everyone she knew. Her life was a beautiful example of quiet strength, faithful service, and love for family.
Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Bernadine Metzler, and her sister, Doris Novark.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Denise Gonzalez and her husband, Carlos, of Houston; her grandchildren, Anthony, Thomas, and Lena Gonzalez, of Houston; and her brother, Edward Metzler and his wife, Patricia, of Willis.
Her family will forever carry her memory in their hearts and give thanks for the years they were blessed to have her.

Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303, US, on September 8, 2026, at 9:00 am with a rosary being recited at 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30 am with Father James officiating.
A Graveside service will take place in Garden Park Cemetery, on September 8, 2026 at 11:30 am, with pallbearers Anthony Gonzalez, Thomas Gonzalez, Darrell Novark, Chad Novark, Steven Metzler, and Jason Metzler.
