Craig was born on August 19, 1961, in Houston, Texas, to Henry R. Wieghat, Jr. and Betty Wieghat. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Craig is survived by his loving wife, Chrissy Wieghat; his children, Jason Wieghat and wife Jackie, Justin Wieghat and wife Dayna, Dustin Bynum, and Ashley Langley and husband Michael. He was a proud grandfather to Kyndall Wieghat, Kynadi Wieghat, Kynsli Wieghat, Teagan Wieghat, Taylee Wieghat, Thomas Sutter, Dylan Sutter, Harley Bynum, Barrett Bynum, Brandon Langley, Addison Emigh, and Ryder Emigh.
He is also survived by his siblings, Wally Wieghat and wife Laurie, and Tappy Wieghat, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Craig dedicated an extraordinary 45 years to law enforcement. He began his career in 1979 in East Montgomery County, working under his brother, Wally. He later served with the Willis Police Department before joining the Panorama Village Police Department, where he faithfully served for nearly 38 years. Craig retired in August 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to his community.
In addition to law enforcement, Craig worked alongside his father at Precision Homes. During the economic challenges of the 1980s, he ventured out on his own and started Precision Excavation and Construction, building lasting friendships and relationships throughout the community. Several years later, he returned to Precision Homes while continuing his law enforcement career.
Craig was a proud member of Hawthorne Baptist Church, where he was baptized and rededicated his life to the Lord. He faithfully served his church in many capacities, including being a Deacon, though cooking for others may have been his favorite ministry. He found great joy in bringing people together around a meal and sharing fellowship with friends and family.
Craig had a love of the outdoors. He loved hunting and spending time in the woods whenever possible. He enjoyed working the land from the seat of a tractor, and he was thankful that tractors had headlights, as to not limit his hours on the tractor. In true Craig fashion, he never passed up an opportunity to drive his tractor into town to run errands, bringing smiles to those who saw him along the way.
Craig will be remembered for his ability to make friends wherever he went and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
