Dan was born June 3, 1932 in Houston, Texas to Curry Qualtrough Turner and Marth Allee Walling Turner He attended Lamar High School (Class of 1950) and the University of Houston where he earned a B. S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
Dan married Johnese Jean Brown on October 15, 1966. Dan and Johnese were married almost 56 years and had three children, Celeste, David and Patricia.
Dan joined the United States Air Force in 1951, where he served during the Korean War for four years. Dan began work for Humble Oil and Refining in 1955, which later became Exxon. He worked at Exxon Production Research for 31 years until he retired as Director of Information Systems. Dan then began consulting for ZeroOne Systems and Marathon Oil Company, and later, became Director of Information Systems for British Petroleum from 1987 to 1991. Dan helped found Petrotechnical Open Software Corporation (POSC, now known as Energistics). He served at POSC as President and CEO until his official retirement in 1995.
Dan loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He served as President in the following organizations: Exchange Club of Houston, Braeburn Little League, FUN Football, and Braeburn Valley HOA. Dan spent his free time playing golf, fishing, boating, and traveling.
Dan is survived by his wife Johnese Brown Turner. His three children, Celeste and David Glass, David and Christine Turner, and Patricia and Jason Rogers. Grandchildren: Allyson Glass, Susannah Thomas, Andrew Glass, Allen Glass, Daniel Turner, Sydney Turner, Jordan Rogers, Abigail Rogers, Samuel Rogers and Aaron Rogers with 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at West Conroe Baptist Church at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Services immediately follow beginning at 11:00am. A private family burial will be held at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
