Obituary for Daren Shane Dalton.

It is with great sadness that the family of Daren Shane Dalton, 32, of Conroe Texas announces his passing from this earth as he was welcomed home by our Lord on September 10, 2018. Daren was an adored only child who, from the young age of four, was an avid outdoorsman. You could find him on the lake in front of their home fishing on any given day. When he wasn’t fishing, he was catching turtles and selling them to the local pet store. As a young man Daren enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors with his friends. As a youth, Daren played little league baseball, football, and was on the Conroe Swim team. He also was a member of the orchestra, playing the cello. In adolescence, Daren had eclectic interests that ranged from sports, to music and the arts, and he followed things of interest and intellect by nature. Daren was greeted and welcomed home by his Step Father John Ross (Jay Ross) Martin, III, along with his dear friends, part of “The ‘04 Crew”, Chase Bergfeld, and Daniel Werring. A host of other family members went ahead of Daren to prepare his place in heaven; Grandfather George Joyce Polk, Grandmother Mary Alice Castleschouldt Polk, Grandmother Rosa Castleschouldt, aunt Martha Polk Cherry, and uncles George Polk and David Polk. Daren is survived by his loving mother, Gladys Ruth (Ruthie) Martin, the wife of The late John Ross (Jay Ross) Martin, III, both of Conroe, Texas. His father Terry Lee Dalton of Katy, Texas, Half-Brother Ryan Dalton of O.C. California, grandparents Virginia and Bernard Milton of Lincoln Nebraska, and his step sister Leslie Martin of Austin, Texas. Daren is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles along with his cousins; Guy and Sandy Martin and their daughter Keely Tucker, Jeff and Helen Polk and their son Chad Polk, Patrick Dalton, Mike and Kitty Dalton, Chuck and Rosie Dalton, Jackie and John Burmeister, Robin and Terry Webb and their children Bailey and Cameron, John Anthony and Christina Cherry and their children Kiah and Kegan, Wade and Jean Polk and their children Connor, Colton and Kaitlyn, Ollie and Joe Miller and their children Cindy Kris and Susan, Michelle Polk, Kadie and Kevin Hager and their daughter Meg Brianne Dyer and her daughter Lucasey. Very special cousins Glenna Poland Marek and her husband Gene Marek and their son Jeff McGinty, Amy Miller and her son Mason Miller. Dear friends Robin Kellum, Desiree Loren Tapping, Gustavo Flores, Cody Harrington, Ronnie and Matt Crow, Jim and Carolyn Gibson, Bunny Russell, Lisa Rogers and her son Ben and Terri King. Daren will be missed by his mentors and close friends; Duke Coon, Chuck Bergfeld, B.J. Franklin, Andrew Abbott, and Howard Harrell. Daren will be dearly missed by his beloved pets and constant companions; Tsavo, Hooper Gracey, and Etta Jane. The “The ‘04 Crew” mourns the loss of their friend Daren, as they have twice before with Chase Bergfeld and Daniel Werring, The ‘04 Crew is certain that Chase and Daniel met him at the gate. The rest of “The Crew” will go when they must and carry their friends’ with them every day in their hearts; Austin Smith, Grayson Canada, Jason Stephens, Logan Basham, Eric Fleck, Taylor Wells, Mikey Guerrero, Jordan Dodson, Johnny Peiffer, Shane Petru. At CHS he was in The Academy for Health and Science Center graduating Class of 2004. He was well liked, friendly, kind, compassionate and always the voice of reason, especially within his very close group of guy friends “The ‘04 Crew”. After High School Daren studied at Texas A&M and Sam Houston. Daren was a lifelong resident of Conroe, Texas. In his adult life Daren joined the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and began his faithful walk with God. He was proud of being a Christian and was always a good steward of the best humanity has to offer. His nature and beautiful disposition found him helping his Mother as his Step-father’s illness progressed and his health failed. Daren was right there every step of the way for both of them. He was very close to Jay Ross and they spent countless hours in conversation, debate, listening to music, after hours eating (when Mom went to bed) and in the company of one another. He was a wonderful help to his Mother and an amazing caregiver to Jay Ross. Daren was a good son and the apple of his Mother’s eye, they were very close. Daren’s childhood friends wanted it known that he never had an unkind day in his life nor did he entertain gossip or hatred. Daren was truly a good soul, he always cared about people. Daren loved his Country and was an active Member in his community. Daren had a calming effect on people and was logical in thought. He loved his family and friends and always helped anyone who needed his talents as a tutor. People wanted Daren to weigh in on things as his perspective always gave them something to consider. He was a student of life and blessed with intellect. He was a voracious reader on almost every subject and loved learning new things. Sometimes testing his aptitude at home, he was as innovative in his thoughts as he was in his experiments, often performed at home. Daren never stopped learning, he always appreciated life, he was interested in World events, respected other viewpoints even as he could not agree with them. He always respected another way of looking at an issue. We have lost an intelligent, loyal, humble and loving part of our lives and we take comfort in knowing that Daren is home with his savior, The Lord Jesus Christ. There will be a visitation Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Daren’s life begins at 2:00pm at Metcalf Funeral Directors at 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas. I'll always remember Daren in that leather jacket of his. I always recognized it as a good, durable jacket. It suited Daren, and he knew it. I remember one occasion in particular where Daren was wearing this jacket. We were at Hastings in Conroe, TX, chatting as we often did about Daren's latest interests. We were talking about Philip K. Dick's life and his book, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Daren spoke with such excitement and amazement about the book. I could tell the book meant something to Daren. I remember envying Daren's ability to let something meaningful grab him and consume his attention. I remember wanting to be more like Daren. Many meaningful things grabbed Daren in his lifetime. He lived with passion. I'll never forget his loyalty, resilience, and unassuming demeanor.

Ruthie my heart goes out to you. As my grandmother told me many years ago "no mother should ever have to bury a child no matter how old "when my mom passed away. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. Death is a terrible thing and I have found much comfort in the Bible’s hope for the future. Revelation 21:4 says “he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” We are also assured that our loved ones will live again at Acts 24:14, “I have hope toward God ... that there is going to be a resurrection.”
