Darryl Scott Lemons, 74, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away October 3, 2026. Born November 21, 1951, in Lubbock, Darryl was the son of Lester and Rose Lemons and spent his life rooted in the community that shaped him. From his early years in Lubbock Public Schools, he carried forward a steady loyalty to home and family, and a spirit that made room for both wisdom and good humor.
Growing up in Lubbock, Darryl loved baseball and played the game with the same energy and heart that would mark so much of his life. That adventurous streak—paired with a kind-hearted, compassionate nature—showed itself not only in what he enjoyed, but in how he showed up for others: devoted, faithful, and quietly inspirational to those who knew him best.
Darryl built a respected career as a master plumber with a med-gas license, known as exceptionally skilled in his trade. He contributed his abilities to helping build Covenant Hospital—work that stands as a lasting, practical legacy of service. In all he did, he carried himself with care and purpose, earning the trust of others through steady workmanship and a generous, helpful spirit.
Darryl was married to Karen Lemons (McMahan) for 23 years, and together they had four children: Amy, Drew, Kristin, and Aaron. He later married Teresa Adrianne Moses and became step-father to Tam’s three children, Tiffany, Natasha, and Derek. Darryl was preceded in death by his father, Lester Lemons; his mother, Rose Hope Lemons; and his second wife, Teresa Lemons.
He is survived by his children, Amy Jarvis and husband Kent, Drew Lemons and wife Dana, Kristin Keeney and husband Winn, and Aaron Lemons and wife Tiffany; his grandchildren, Caitlyn, Ethan, Brianna, Grayson, and Emma; his brother, Charlie Lemons; and his sisters, Becky Brown and Laurel Pilkington. To his family, he was deeply beloved and cherished—a loving father whose devotion was felt in everyday ways and remembered with gratitude.
A man of wide interests and warm presence, Darryl loved baseball, golf, and playing the guitar. Later, he played in the band “Desert Pearl” and learned to love the bass guitar as well—another example of his willingness to keep learning, to keep enjoying life, and to bring others along with him.
Darryl also gave generously of his time as a youth group leader for Melanie Park Baptist Church for many years. Faith was not merely something he spoke about; it was something he lived with consistency and care. He coached baseball and taught his children how to love the Lord, offering guidance with the steady wisdom of someone who understood that the most enduring lessons are taught through patience, example, and love.
Darryl Scott Lemons will be remembered for his loyal heart, compassionate spirit, and the devoted way he cared for those entrusted to him. His life leaves a legacy of faithfulness, service, and love—one that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Darryl will be honored at a Celebration of Life at Trinity Church, 7002 Canton Ave, Lubbock, TX 79413, on November 20, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm.
