Deborah grew up in Houston and graduated from Bellaire High School. Once she was married and started a family, she moved to the Conroe area in 1976. Deborah was a homemaker, a sales associate at Walmart for 29 years, and continued in merchandising for Hallmark after retirement. She was a member of the Conroe Art League and enjoyed painting using all types of media, especially watercolor. She volunteered at local breast cancer walks, community art events, and for the Children’s Miracle Network. She loved the beach and camping with her family at Galveston Island State Park every year, walking on the beach collecting seashells and watching the sun set. Debbie had a great love of music, spending many hours listening to her favorite albums. She was dedicated to family, supporting their activities and dreams, hosting holiday celebrations, and maintaining traditions.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Arthur “Sonny” Martin, daughters Melissa Sawyer and husband Michael Loper and Mandy Martin and husband Jimmie Moore III, sons Michael Martin and wife Annette and recently reunited son Glenn Speer, stepson Tyler Kelly and wife Lisa, grandchildren David Sawyer, Skye Sawyer, Amanda Loftin, Jimmie Moore IV, Lexi Moore, Derrelle Hollins, Devin Bell, Nicholas Martin, Ava Speer and Ian Speer, 10 great grandchildren, brothers Bobby Thrower and wife Nancy and Tommy Thrower, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Jacqueline and brother Doug Thrower, and great-grandchild Eric Sawyer.
Deborah’s family will welcome visitors to Cashner Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services for Deborah will begin at 2:00 p.m. following visitation. Graveside services will be at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe following funeral services. Celebration of Life to follow at the family home.
