Memorial services for Deborah Kay Satterfield will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 3:00pm in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Tom Hughes officiating. Deborah was born on January 6, 1960 in Houston, Texas and passed away October 24, 2011. She attended Conroe High School. She married William Reed Satterfield in 1978 and relocated to Nacogdoches following his death to attend college at Stephen F. Austin State University. In 1994 she received a Bachelor of Science in Geology-Geography and began teaching science at Tarkington Middle School. Her most recent teaching tenure was for the school district in Kingman, Arizona where she taught high school science. For the last fifteen years, she fought passionately to help her students learn that they could do anything they put their mind to. Her passion for teaching ignited when an old high school counselor told her that college was not in the cards for her. When deciding between college coursework in accounting or teaching, she chose the path that would allow her to prove to her students that college and self-improvement were never out of reach. Deborah is survived by her daughters, Nancy Satterfield of Dallas and Cynthia Satterfield of Dallas. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
