Debra Ann Rohr

Debra Ann Rohr, 73, passed away on September 8, 2026. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 23, 1953, Debra was the daughter of Felician Raymond ‘Dutch’ Chagnard and Verna McKean Chagnard. She later resided in Conroe, Texas.

Debra spent many of her early years on Rabbit Island, where life moved at a simpler pace and days were shaped by family and the steady rhythms of home. Even as a child, she met responsibilities with quiet determination—taking a train into New Orleans for school—an early sign of the hard-working spirit and steady resolve that would mark her life. As a teenager, her family moved to New Orleans East, and she graduated from Abramson High School in 1971. She completed one year of college at the University of New Orleans. After her daughters were in middle school, Deborah pursued and received a Culinary degree, reflecting a lifelong willingness to learn, to grow, and to bring joy to others through the work of her hands.

On June 2, 1972, Debra married David Charles Rohr, beginning 54 years of life together. In the years that followed, she devoted herself to her family as a loving wife and mother, raising two daughters, Rachel and Rita. Her home was shaped by care, loyalty, and thoughtful attention to the people she loved—a place where generosity was practiced in everyday ways and where kindness was never in short supply.

Debra's faith was a guiding foundation throughout her life. She spent time studying the Bible, and her faithful spirit was also reflected in her involvement in various church community activities. She served as PTA president for her children’s grammar school and worked as an election poll worker, offering her time with honesty, compassion, and a sincere sense of responsibility.

A gifted homemaker and baker, Debra brought warmth and welcome to those around her. She loved cooking and enjoyed being around people, and her humor and wit were part of the ease she carried into conversation and companionship. She also embraced life with an adventurous heart—traveling, sailing, and boating—approaching the world with curiosity, courage, and a genuine enjoyment of the moments shared with others.

Debra will be remembered as beloved and deeply cherished—a woman whose friendly nature, wise perspective, and kind-hearted presence made others feel seen and valued. Her life reflected a rare blend of strength and tenderness: compassionate, generous, honest, and devoted to the people and principles she held close.

Debra is survived by her husband, David Rohr; her daughters, Rachel and Rita Rohr; her brother, Vernon Chagnard; her grandchildren, Joshua Krog, Justin Krog, and Grace Krog; and her great grandson, Everett Krog. She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026 beginning at 2:00pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 3:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas.
