Donald Gene Myers of Conroe, Texas passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024. He was 93 years old. Don was born on September 26th, 1931, to William Louis and Sally Lois Myers of Bartlesville, OK. He was the youngest of five children.
He always enjoyed playing all childhood games with his brother, Bill and friends. He attended College High in Bartlesville and was a very hard worker having jobs throughout his time in school. He worked at the Glencliff Creamery 3 years and delivered the Tulsa World and Bartlesville Enterprise papers for 4 years. After completing high school he soon started working at Cities Service Oil Co as a adding machine clerk in 1949. Don married Doris Jean Copenhaver on March 26th, 1950. Together they had daughters Diana and Julie.
Don and Doris moved to Oil Hill, Kansas and later Madison, Kansas in the early years of their marriage. In 1961, Don was promoted and transferred to Houston, Texas where he worked in the International Division at Cities Services and was lucky enough to travel the world. After 40 years of service serving as manager of finance and administration, he retired in 1989. Don loved wood working, fishing, camping and traveling, reading and watching movies and spending time with his family.
He and Doris moved full time to their forever home on Peach Creek in 1990. Together they loved working in their big, beautiful yard and spending times with family and friends and always looking for new places to have a great lunch. Their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren love spending time fishing and swimming in the Creek, riding go-carts, swinging on the rope swing and having great steak dinners cooked on the grill by their PaPa. Don was a very sweet, kind and loving husband, father and PaPa. He was loved by everyone who knew him and he’ll be truly missed.
The family would like to thank Don’s dear friend Roger Bennett for coming out to the house and having lunch and great conversations which always brightened his day. Also, our many thanks and love go out to Don’s friend and very attentive Caretaker, Kevin Golden. You were a constant source of kindness, compassion, support and companionship for the past 3 years.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Doris of 71 years, his sisters Inez and Louise and brothers Bill and DeWayne and parents William and Sally Myers.
Don is survived by his daughters Julie Habegger and her husband Kevin of Sugarland, TX and Diana Allen and her husband Johnny of Austin, TX. Grandson Bryan Allen and his wife Sally of Kansas City, Kansas, granddaughter Jennifer Geissen and her husband Brian of Austin, TX, great grandchildren; J.R., Andy, Cecily and Marshall Allen and Lainey and Kaylee Geissen and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the Best Four-Legged nurse you could hope for, his dog Midge. She never left his side and loved him more than anything.
A memorial service will be held at Don and Doris’s church on Friday, January 10, 2PM at First Presbyterian Church of Conroe, 2727 N. Loop 336 W. Conroe, TX 77304. Family will receive friends at 1pm prior to service. A Graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 11AM at Bartlesville Memorial Park in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
