Donnie Ray Martinez

Donnie Ray was born and raised in Willis, Texas. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent his spare time raising horses, cattle, chickens, rabbits, and any wild creatures that he came across in the woods or hayfields. It was not unusual to walk into the house to see him in a chair bottle feeding a deer, squirrel, or raccoon. He also loved gardening and fishing. His home was always open. He had no enemies, only friends. He enjoyed having visits from family and friends and would chat with them for hours on end.

After his wife Myrtie passed, he began a relationship with Martha Gates, thus adding an extended family that he loved dearly.

Preceded in death by his wife Myrtie, father; George Martinez, mother; Edna Martinez, brothers; Johnny Martinez, George “Cubby” Martinez, and Doyle Martinez, Donnie Ray is survived by brothers, sisters, and sister in laws; Frank and Clarene Martinez, Frank and Elsie Wells, Aline Heathman, Billy Ray and Carol Martinez, Camilla “Pop” Martinez, and Debbie Martinez, stepchildren; Michael Ray McMayon, Shirley Jean McMayon, Donald Wayne McMayon, and Jack Thomas McMayon, extended family; Billye Gates and Chris Betcher, and their sons, Christian and Kotie Betcher, Ryan and Brandi Carrico, Phyllis Parker, Van and Mickey Parker, Alan Parker.

Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral service for Donnie Ray Martinez will be held at the Cashner Colonial Chapel on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 10:00am with interment following at Garden Park Cemetery.
