Donny was devoted, beloved, brave, VERY generous, kind-hearted, thoughtful, humorous, adventurous, and definitely cherished. He was raised with his brother, Clarence Myers and sister, Pam Myers by his parents, John and Margie Myers in Houston, TX. Donny was the oldest and he very much filled the role of ‘leader’ in his life.
Graduating from MacArthur High School, Donny entered the Houston Fire Dept on 09/14/1974 and retired on 11/30/2005 with 31 years of service. He also served on the Houston Firefighters Pension Fund as a board member, and later, as the Chairman. He was very proud of the benefits that he fought for to help Houston firefighters. Donny viewed the fire department as a brotherhood, and he had a lot of ‘stories’ about his years at the firehouse. He also learned how to do some great cooking at the fire station! Donny loved the fact that he was one of five of his family members that were Houston Firemen. It was a family tradition to become a brave Houston Firefighter in his family.
Donny married Mary Dauzat right out of high school, and they were married for 52 years. They lovingly raised 2 daughters, Tiffiny Myers Thrasher, and Deidra Myers Wright. Family was always very important to Donny, and he made a point to hold get togethers over the years with extended family members as well.
Donny was passionate about fishing and hunting. In his earlier years, he even fished in bass tournaments with his father in law, Lester Dauzat. He hunted on MANY deer leases over the years with many friends and family members. He had a very impressive collection of trophy deer on his walls! He was especially proud of introducing his love of hunting to his grandchildren. Donny also loved Jesus, and he was proud to be involved in his church, ‘The Cowboy Church’ in Centerville, TX.
Donny had a generous heart, and enjoyed donating bicycles for needy children around Christmas time. Donny left behind a legacy in his children and grandchildren. He showed them how to love and take care of each other. He also left a legacy with the hard work he poured into the Houston Fire Dept Pension Fund, helping bills to be passed that would benefit thousands of firefighters in the future.
Donny is preceded in death by his Mother, Margie Myers; father, John Myers; mother in law, Yola Dauzat; and his father in law, Lester Dauzat.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Myers; daughters, Tiffiny Thrasher and her husband Steven Thrasher, Deidra Wright and her husband Wesley Wright; grandchildren: Cullen, Lawson, and Emmy Hayes, Bennett and Delaney Wright; Clay and Colby Thrasher, and Garrett Beadle; siblings, Clarence Myers and Pam Hillman.
Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Cashner Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am with the graveside service to follow in Garden Park Cemetery. After the burial there will be a reception at Cashner Funeral Home.
