On Wednesday, December 9, 2020 Dorothy “Dot” Lois Ballard peacefully passed away at the age of 89 years old. Dot was born in Poplarville, Mississippi on November 5, 1931 to Auburn Dewey Jarrell and Era Lois Kirkland Jarrell.
They moved several times across Louisiana and followed the oil company to Conroe. That is where Dot attended Conroe High School and graduated in the Class of 1948. After high school Dot moved to Houston to attend Secretary school and work for the Boy Scouts of America. Bobby and Dot reunited following Bobby’s return from Japan after serving our country in WWII. They were married August 27, 1951 and celebrated 67 ½ years at Bobby’s passing. Dot worked for Moore Supply Company as a bookkeeper and when Bobby retired, they traveled all over the USA with many adventures and stories to tell.
Dot was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby L Ballard and her parents Auburn and Era Jarrell.
Dot is survived by her children Brad and Deena Ballard of Montgomery, TX. Gail and Gary Mahaffey of Anderson, TX. Janet and Marcus Masterson of Conroe, TX. Dot’s grandchildren who were so special to her are Rebecca Ballard and husband Juan Gomez of Corpus Christi, TX. Brent Ballard of Conroe, TX. Chris and Jacki Mahaffey of Houston, TX. Derek Mahaffey of Conroe, TX. Andrew Mahaffey of Conroe, TX. and Greg and Jennifer Masterson of Willis, TX.
Dot’s brightest moments were spent with her great grandchildren Claire and Kate Mahaffey, Brooklyn, Brieann and Brady Ballard and their mother Amy Capellen (Granddaughter in love). Dot was so excited about the soon arrival of her new great grandbaby Avery Masterson. Dot is also survived by her Uncle Elvin and Aunt Louise Kirkland, Aunt Irma Jean Kirkland and her Sister-in-Laws Wilma Manos and Barbara Ballard. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
The Ballard Family would like to Thank Woodhaven Villages for all the love and care they provided with special thanks to Robin Drummond and the Caregivers in the Whispering Pines area. The Family also wants to Thank Devotion Hospice for all the love and care given to Mom. Devotion was always there ministering to our Mom and family. They are truly a blessing.
Visitation for Dot will be held Sunday, December 13, 2020 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, TX with a funeral service the following day at 10 AM in Metcalf Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Lynch officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brent Ballard, Chris Mahaffey, Derek Mahaffey, Andrew Mahaffey, Greg Masterson, Juan Gomez and Brady Ballard. An interment will follow at Conroe Memorial Park, 1600 Porter Road, Conroe, TX.
