"With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Elizabeth “Cookie” Elsie Meeks Mann. Born on August 6th, 1949 to Charles and Marceline Meeks in Conroe, Texas; she left behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength. Having celebrated 75 passionate years of life full of adoration, she joined the kingdom of God on September 29th, 2024.
Cookie was the cherished wife of Terry Mann, her husband of 60 years, whom she married in 1964. Their bond fortified the foundation of a family that adored her. She was known for her deep profound love and care of others. Not only for her family but also in her career as a nurse, where she touched countless lives. After making a positive impact at schools such as Runyan Elementary and Washington Junior High, Cookie retired to pursue new adventures.
A woman of many talents, Cookie also appeared in several Western films, working alongside well-known actors and actresses. She relished these moments and often brought her grandchildren along, sharing the joy of those unique experiences. Affectionately known as “Meme” to her grandchildren, she imparted lifelong lessons of patience, courage, and joy. She was the heart of her family- always available with a snack, or a safe place to stay. Cookie was the embodiment of strength and grace, walking closely in God’s footsteps.
Cookie is survived by her devoted husband Terry Mann. Their children Lisa Mann, Philip Mann, and Matthew Mann. Her adopted daughters Brenda Welborn, Rachel Risinger-Mann, and JungHee Lee. Her siblings Sonja and husband Maurice Saroni, Leonard and wife Shirley Meeks, and Philip and Sue Meeks. Her grandchildren Zane and wife Christine, Cody, Maranda, Diana and wife Megan, Felicia and husband Daniel, Stormy and fiance Randy, Kaitlyn and fiance Gabriel, and Hanna. Her great-grandchildren Hayden, Lilly, Hunter, Alicen, Abigail, Asher, Austin, Daniel, Prudence and Terry will also carry on her legacy.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Marceline Meeks, son Terry Lynn, granddaughter Angela Marie, her great-grandson Corbin Allen, and her brother Floyd “Mickey” Meeks.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 19, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Security Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas.
