With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Ellen Mae “Precious” McCarty (Conroe, TX), who passed peacefully away on February 2, 2023 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, T.W. McCarty. She was the eldest daughter of W.W. and Elizabeth Wilson Bordeaux on March 29, 1932 in Burgaw, NC. Ellen was one of 8 children; 4 brothers, 3 sisters.
In 1950, she met and married Corporal T.W. McCarty from Conroe, TX. For the next 18 years, they traveled across the U.S.A. as a proud Marine family with their three children, Wayne McCarty (Conroe, TX), Beth Ritchey (Independence, OR), and Kellie McCrary (Willis, TX) before the McCarty family retired from the USMC to civilian life in 1968 to move to Conroe.
“Precious” Ellen was a faithful and supportive Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was a role model for so many.
Ellen was very well known within the First Methodist Church of Conroe, because of her involvement in numerous civic groups; the Gathering Place, hospital pillows, Beacon S.S. Class, etc. She was also very active in the Order of Eastern Star, the Rainbow Girls, as well as, the Boy and Girl Scouts.
Ellen was survived by her son, Wayne (Janice), and her two daughters, Beth and Kellie. Precious was blessed with 6 wonderful grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, as well as, many extended family, and friends.
Ellen's children want to thank First Methodist Church, The Unlimited Care Cottages / Willis, TX, and Devotion Hospice for their incredible care of their mom.
Her service will be February 9th at 3:00 at First Methodist Church of Conroe (4308 W. Davis Street).
