Ellwood “Buck” Walter Holtkamp devoted husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, and Veteran went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Buck was born May 23, 1931 at home in Fort Bend County. He would tell stories of taking care of their animals and picking cotton on his family farm with his two brothers Erwin, Raymond (Bo) and sister Dorothy in Needville, Texas. Buck went to school in a small farming community and graduated from Rosenberg High School. He was drafted into the military during Korean conflict and was a tank operator. He would often tell stories of his time spent in Germany and how he enjoyed traveling across the world while serving in the Korean War. After his time in the armed forces he returned home to receive his degree in Animal Science from the University of Houston on June 4, 1952.
Buck married Wanda Faith McCauley on May 7, 1955 at Hope Lutheran Church in Beasley, Texas. He was then employed by Continental Emsco until he retired. The Holtkamp’s moved several times to the following towns: Victoria, Houston and Trinity, Texas. The family landed in Conroe, Texas in 1969 and have been residents for over 50 years. Buck and Wanda had two children, Roger and Kathy. Buck was passionate for sporting events and was an avid deer hunter. Buck Holtkamp was a very involved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, supporting his loved ones and encouraging them to succeed in all of their endeavors. He was a very devoted, loyal, loving man that took care of others before himself.
Buck is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Faith McCauley Holtkamp, parents Henry and Caroline Holtkamp, his brothers Erwin Holtkamp, Raymond (Bo) Holtkamp and sister Dorothy Tiemann. He is survived by his children Roger and wife Leslie Holtkamp and Kathy and Dan Stanbery of Conroe, Texas; Grandchildren Caleb Wren Spence, Jacquelyn Holtkamp Janca and husband Taylor Janca, Lauren Holtkamp and Dean Holtkamp; Great-Grand Children Jenner Janca, Cooper Janca, Parker Janca and Corley Janca, family members and many friends that loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 9:45 a.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Spence, Dean Holtkamp, Taylor Janca, Louis Teykl, Matthew March, and Will Winfree and Honorary Pallbearers are Dan Stanbery and Keith Casey
