Erika Serrato

With profound sadness and broken hearts, we announce the passing of Deputy Erika Serrato, who entered eternal rest on June 28, 2026, at the age of 24.

Born on July 11, 2001, in Houston, Texas, Erika was the youngest daughter of Leticia and Rodolfo Serrato. From an early age, she brought light into the lives of everyone around her. Her enormous smile could brighten any room, and her hugs were the kind that made people feel safe, loved, and at home. She had a gift for lifting the spirits of others with her warmth, kindness, and infectious laugh.

One of Erika's greatest gifts was her heart. She was always willing to listen without judgment, offering comfort, encouragement, and understanding to anyone who needed it. No matter what she was facing in her own life, she always made time to help carry someone else's burden. She had a rare ability to make people feel heard, accepted, and never alone. Those who knew Erika will forever remember her joyful spirit, compassionate heart, and the genuine love she gave so freely.

Erika answered the call to serve others with pride and dedication. She began her career with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office as a Detention Officer, where she earned the respect of her peers through her professionalism, compassion, and strong work ethic. In January 2026, she proudly fulfilled her dream of becoming a Deputy Sheriff. Wearing the badge was more than a profession—it was her calling. She served her community with courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others.

To her family, Erika was so much more than a deputy. She was a loving daughter, a devoted sister, a proud aunt, and a loyal friend. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved, especially her niece and nephew, who brought her endless joy. Whether she was sharing a laugh, giving one of her unforgettable hugs, or simply being present, Erika had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel valued and deeply loved.

Although her life was far too short, Erika's impact was immeasurable. She made the ultimate sacrifice while faithfully serving the community she loved. Her legacy of service, strength, compassion, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched and in the memories that her family, friends, and fellow deputies will cherish forever.

Erika is survived by her loving mother, Leticia Serrato; her father, Rodolfo Serrato; her sisters, Lizette Guevara and Deyanira Almazan; her brothers-in-law, Juovany Guevara and Samuel Almazan; her cherished niece, Olivia Almazan; her beloved nephew, Luka Guevara; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and her brothers and sisters in law enforcement who will forever honor her memory.

Though our hearts are shattered by her passing, we find comfort knowing that Erika's watch on Earth has ended, but her legacy never will. It lives on in every life she touched, every person she comforted, every smile she inspired, and every hug that made someone feel they were home. She will forever be remembered not only for the badge she wore, but for the extraordinary heart she carried.
