Evelyn Marie Register

Evelyn Marie Zoch Register died peacefully at her home at Reunion Court in The Woodlands, Texas, on December 14, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born September 23, 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas, to Alvin Gottlieb Zoch and Clara Magdalena (Moerbe) Zoch. She was baptized and confirmed in 1938. Evelyn was married to Thomas Edward Register on November 13, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a home maker and had two children, Carolyn Marie and Thomas Wayne. Evelyn and her husband worked together at their business, Kreiter Gear and Machine, in Houston for many years. They enjoyed vacationing at their home in Colorado Springs and traveling in their RV. Evelyn and Tom were married for 45 years. After her husband’s death, she devoted her time to Houston Hospice as a volunteer.

Evelyn was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where she served as Sunday School attendance secretary and secretary of St. Andrew September Club. When she moved to The Woodlands she began attending Resurrection Lutheran Church in Spring, Texas.

Evelyn is proceeded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her brother, Clarence Alvin Zoch and his wife Jane of San Antonio, Texas, her daughter, Carolyn Finch and husband Richard of Surprise, Arizona, and son, Thomas Wayne Register and wife Betty of New Waverly, Texas. She had five grandchildren: Nicole Finch Cunningham, Tara Finch Hughey and husband Chris, Danielle Finch, Thomas Matthew Register and wife Shannon, and Sarah Register Smith and husband Brian. Evelyn leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren: Savannah Cunningham, Madison Hughey Long and husband Isaac, Ryker Hughey, Makayla and Avery Schilling, Thomas Charles and Thomas Jack Register, and Abigail, Juliet, Ian, and Violet Smith. She also had one great-great-granddaughter, Jane Juniper Long.

A memorial service will be held for Evelyn in 2023 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Spring, Texas with Pastor Stephen Sohns officiating.
