Freddie Ray Greer, a beloved resident of Conroe, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 22nd, 1937, in Conroe, Fred was the son of Annie and Homer Greer. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Reagan Greer, great-granddaughter Charlee Reed Ramos, and sister-in-law Mary Lynn Baines Greer.
Fred's life was a testament to love, dedication, and community service. He leaves behind a legacy of profound impact on his family and the Conroe community. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Barri Cable Greer; His brother, Don Greer; son Kevin Ray Greer and wife Natascha Greer; son Reagan Monroe Greer; son Andrew Cable Greer; Granddaughter Brandy Greer Ramos and husband Christopher Ramos; grandson Matthew Ray Greer and wife Marki Greer; grandson, Connor Greer; grandson Lucas Greer; His great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
From an early age, Fred's heart belonged to Conroe. As a proud Conroe Tiger, he found immense joy in seeing his sons and grandsons continue the legacy of Conroe Tiger Football. After earning his degree from Sam Houston State University, Fred became a successful local businessman and worked tirelessly to promote the growth and welfare of his beloved city.
Fred's passion for community service knew no bounds. He was deeply involved in various local organizations, including the Montgomery County Masonic Lodge, where he shared fellowship with like-minded individuals. As President of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, Fred played a crucial role in fostering business development and economic progress in the area.
His dedication to the Montgomery County Fair Association and being a founding member of the Montgomery County BBQ Cookoff showcased his commitment to celebrating community spirit through fun and fellowship. Fred's service extended to the Rotary Club, where his contributions earned him the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow award.
A devout Christian, Fred was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Conroe, where he found comfort and solace in his faith. His involvement in numerous organizations reflected his desire to uplift and support his community at every opportunity. He even managed to find the time to ride the bull at Gilley's, an experience that earned him a featured story in the Conroe Courier.
Outside of his community involvement, Fred relished spending quality time with his family, especially during their hunting trips, and while enjoying their time at the river house in the hill country.
Fred lived a life of purpose, love, and dedication to others. The Conroe community has been forever enriched by his presence, and his memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Fred Greer will be held on August 11th, 2023, with visitation at 10 am and the funeral at 11 am at the First Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to God’s Garage or a charity close to your heart in honor of Fred's legacy.
