Gary attended Texas Tech University and proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Vietnam veteran. The discipline, courage, and sense of responsibility he carried from his service shaped the way he lived the rest of his life.
Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. In 1969 he married the love of his life, Suzanne Hill, and together they shared 57 years of partnership, laughter, and steadfast support. He was an avid golfer who found joy and camaraderie on the course, and, upon retirement, he became a world traveler, exploring new places and experiences with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Gary is survived by his cherished wife, Suzanne; his sister, Wendy Eberhardt; his children, Jennifer (David) Massey and Brian (Nicole) Hill; and his four beloved grandchildren, Audrey Hill, Hudson Hill, Grayson Hill, and Isla Hill.
He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and his zest for life, which made all things joyful for those around him.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 5 from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors in the State Room. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 10:30 AM at Saint Mary Church in Plantersville, TX. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories of Gary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Gary Hill’s name to Saint Mary’s Chapter of Saint Vincent De Paul, 8227 Cr 205, Plantersville, TX 77363.
