Gary E. Petty

Gary Petty, 69, of Conroe, Texas left his worn out earthly body and entered the Gates of Heaven on Sunday, February 4, 2018 just 5 days short of his 70th birthday with his wife and son at his side. He was born on February 9th, 1948 in Houston, Texas to Clarence and Jo Petty. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin high school in 1967 and has kept in touch with many of his friends through all these years. He played football and baseball throughout Hartman Jr High and Austin High and received a football scholarship to Oklahoma University. Gary married Alice Fouse, his Junior High sweetheart, on July 27, 1968. They almost made it to 50 years. Gary is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life Alice, his son Travis Petty and wife Misty (who Gary called his Misty girl), grandsons Taylor and Caden Petty, the absolute joy of his life, all of Conroe, and numerous dear, precious friends who have been right by his side for many years. He loved his family and friends with all his heart and will be deeply missed, but we rejoice knowing he is in Heaven with Jesus and not suffering any more pain or illness. He will be carried one last time by his special "Pit Crew" Roy Levee, Ronnie Curry, Will Johnson and Larry Carnes, and honorary Pit Crew members Jerry Cooper, Walt Lepp, Ronnie Bray and Ed Thaggard. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandsons play baseball. Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 11am-12:30pm with his Celebration of Life service starting at 12:30pm with Pastor Mark Stovall officiating.
